Balanced Attack Lifts Stanwood Girls to 73–40 Win Over Monroe
The Stanwood girls basketball team delivered a dominant performance Friday night, rolling past Monroe with a convincing 73–40 victory. Stanwood set the tone early with strong defensive pressure and efficient scoring, building a comfortable lead that continued to grow throughout the game. Monroe struggled to keep pace as the Spartans controlled both ends of the floor.
Presley Harris led all scorers with 19 points, knocking down five three-pointers to spark Stanwood’s offense. Harris’ ability to stretch the defense created space for her teammates and fueled multiple scoring runs. Her shooting touch proved to be a major factor in breaking the game open.
Stanwood also benefited from balanced scoring and highlight-worthy teamwork. Mylee LaComb finished with 14 points, while Dorothy Berrett added 11 of her own in the win. One of the night’s standout moments came when Ellalee Wortham delivered a perfectly timed no-look pass to Stella Berrett, who finished the play for two, underscoring the unselfish play and chemistry that defined Stanwood’s Friday night victory
