Wortham Makes History in Stanwood’s 60-43 Win Over Skyline
Ellalee Wortham made history and set the tone as Stanwood pulled away for a 60-43 win over Skyline on Friday night.
The senior guard opened the scoring with a 3-pointer, then went on to score a game-high 24 points to become the Spartans’ all-time leading scorer. Wortham finished the night with 1,283 career points, surpassing Rachele Kloke’s school record of 1,273 set during the 2006–07 season, with eight regular-season games still remaining.
Wortham was efficient throughout, knocking down nine field goals that included two shots from beyond the arc, and converting all four of her free-throw attempts. She also helped create opportunities for her teammates, including a first-half assist to Stella Berrett in the paint for an easy two.
Berrett provided a strong secondary scoring presence, finishing with 13 points as Stanwood steadily built its lead. The Spartans used balanced offense and consistent defensive pressure to keep Skyline from gaining momentum.
With the victory, Stanwood improved to 8-3 on the season, while Wortham’s milestone added a memorable highlight to an already impressive senior campaign.
