Stanwood Showcases Strength with Key Pins Despite 52–29 Loss to Monroe

Stanwood showed fight and resilience despite a 52–29 loss to Monroe in a league wrestling dual on Thursday night.

The Spartans were highlighted by several strong individual performances, earning four victories on the night. Soren Anderson led the way with an impressive first-period pin, setting an aggressive tone and giving Stanwood an early spark. Luke Smelser and Mephis Ellis also delivered momentum-shifting pins, each finishing their matches decisively. Austin Lewis added another win for the Spartans, contributing valuable team points.

While Monroe’s depth across the lineup ultimately proved too much, Stanwood’s wrestlers continued to battle in every bout, refusing to back down as the dual progressed. The Spartans’ ability to secure pins and compete aggressively showed promise as they move forward in the season.

Stanwood will look to build on those individual successes as it prepares for upcoming matches, aiming to turn strong performances into team victories.
