Mount Vernon 36, Marysville-Getchell 19

The Bulldogs took control of their league opener and never let go, riding a balanced attack and a strong finish to move to 2-0 on the season.

Quarterback Kaiden Anderson sparked the offense with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jay Davis, while running back Hunter West stole the show on the ground, powering his way to three touchdowns — including two in the second half that sealed the win.

Mount Vernon’s defense also came up with key stops, limiting Marysville-Getchell after the Chargers closed the gap to 22-19 in the third quarter. From there, the Bulldogs tightened up and turned momentum back in their favor.

Marysville-Getchell (0-2, 0-1 league) was led by Connor Conant, who scored on runs of 1 and 12 yards, and quarterback Brody Olson, who found Michael Bertapelle for an 18-yard touchdown. But Mount Vernon’s fast start and strong finish proved too much to overcome.
